Save the Date – SDATA Honors & Awards

The annual South Dakota Athletic Trainers’ Association Honors and Awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday evening June 6th, 2018 at Ode to Food and Drink, 300 Cherapa Place, in Sioux Falls. Several deserving individuals will be honored at this ceremony. Social hour will begin with a cash bar and hors d’ oeuvres at 6:00pm with presentation of awards to begin at 6:30.

The Honors and Awards ceremony precedes the Avera Sports Medicine Symposium (Thursday and Friday, June 7-8), which will provide opportunity to obtain Category A or EBP continuing education credits. SDATA Annual Honors & Awards

SDATA Athletic Trainer of the Year Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a member of the South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association for their service to the SDATA and/or outstanding contribution to the profession of athletic training.

Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. Nomination application must be completed and submitted electronically to the SDATA Honors and AwardsCommittee by deadline provided on application.
  2. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee will review all nomination applications submitted by deadlineand a recipient will be selected.
  3. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee need not select a recipient every year.

SDATA Athletic Training Student of the Year

The purpose of this award is to recognize an athletic training student for their involvement in the athletic training profession at the School, State, or District level.

Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. Nomination application must be completed and submitted electronically to the SDATA Honors and Awards Committee by deadline provided on application.
  2. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee will review all nomination applications submitted by deadline and a recipient will be selected.
  3. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee need not select a recipient every year.

SDATA Athletic Training Educator of the Year Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize an athletic training instructor or preceptor for their outstanding dedication to the development of athletic training students and the profession of athletic training.

Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. Nomination application must be completed and submitted electronically to the SDATA Honors and Awards Committee by deadline provided on application.
  2. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee will review all nomination applications submitted by deadline and a recipient will be selected.
  3. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee need not select a recipient every year.

SDATA Friends of Athletic Training Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize an individual for making significant contributions to the profession of athletic training in South Dakota.

Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. Nomination application must be completed and submitted electronically to the SDATA Honors and Awards Committee by deadline provided on application.
  2. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee will review all nomination applications submitted by deadline and a recipient will be selected.
  3. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee need not select a recipient every year.

SDATA Iron Will Award

The SDATA Iron Will Award serves to honor those outstanding high school or college athletes that have successfully returned to competition following a serious athletic injury. It also serves to honor the certified athletic trainer who played a major role in working with the athlete.

Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. Nomination application must be completed and submitted electronically to the SDATA Honors and Awards Committee by deadline provided on application.
  2. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee will review all nomination applications submitted by deadline and a recipient will be selected.
  3. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee need not select a recipient every year.

SDATA Unsung Hero Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize a member of the South Dakota Athletic Trainers Association for their actions in an emergency or life threatening situation. The goal is to highlight the important role athletic trainers serve in helping keep athletes, coaches, spectators and patients safe.

Nomination and Selection Process:

  1. Nomination application must be completed and submitted electronically to the SDATA Honors and Awards Committee by deadline provided on application.
  2. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee will review all nomination applications submitted by deadline and a recipient will be selected.
  3. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee need not select a recipient every year.
  4. The SDATA Honors and Awards Committee may choose to select more than one recipient per year.
